Super Mario Kart Getting VC Release

I it just my imagination, or has Nintendo started to up the ante with the Wii’s online component recently? Free demos were a great addition to the service, and WiiWare is finally looking like something that might one day be a match for Microsoft and Sony’s rival services.
This week’s Big Nintendo Announcement is that, finally, the third best selling SNES game of all time is to hit the Virtual Console. On Friday, for 800 Nintendo points, we’ll finally be able to play the original Super Mario Kart on our Wiis.
This game was so influential that it would take a full-blown essay to list its innovations and accolades. Suffice to say that its gameplay is still as damn-near perfect as it ever was, and its track design hasn’t been matched by any of its sequels (although the N64 version came pretty close).
Nintendo has also confirmed that uber-addictive 1990 SNES title Pilotwings and N64 brawler Super Smash Bros. will be arriving on the VC before Christmas.
