Peej, I absolutely agree with you about the seemingly sterile feeling that's been creeping into these games for a while now; at least it's not just me that feels that way.

Although, having said that, I just couldn't get involved in Burnout Paradise for some reason. I also found Codemasters have gone backwards with their Race Driver series (TOCA RD2 and 3 still have people online on the PS2, surprisingly). I got fedup with Grid's AI braking madly whilst in a corner and doing other erratic nonsense - it really ruined it for me. I also felt the handling was a bit, well, strange.

Looking at the list you've given, I've got to say it's not getting any better. I can't stand EA racers - they're the height of boredom.

And the less said about the latest F1 game on the Wii, the better.

I would really love to be able to have a plethora to choose from, but it's just not so. It's the one genre I feel has been a bit let down by this generation of consoles (and their developers).

At risk of sounding like a fanboy, I'm going to wait for GT5 - at least the Japanese tend to do things properly.

Alex - Yeah would probably agree that track racers just aren't my cup of tea. Bought it after the demo mainly because it was a lot of fun haring round the track in a fishtailing supercar but in general, every track racer I've played since PGR4 has felt a little more sterile and OCD than the last. Gran Turismo 5 might be worth the entry fee if the rumours are true about the top gear track inclusion but am definitely looking forward to 2010's arcade racers more.

PGR5 (coming from Microsoft Game Studios rather than Bizarre)
Split / Second (what Burnout Paradise SHOULD'VE been)
Blur (By Bizarre, so it's going to handle like a dream at least)
Bond Racing (again by Bizarre. Let's hope it's better than the last Bond driving game effort)
Need for Speed Next (from Criterion)

Plenty there that should keep me occupied methinks :)

I just found it too easy on medium but to hard on hard. No sticky throttle for me though.

Thats sounds really annoying Crunchy, hopefully they'll patch it, they will soon enough if it's a common problem.

Peej - By your facination with the vinyl editor and your reference to Split Second..I dont think Forza was really made for you..

I do agree with you on it being boring, I'm certainly more the Burnout>Granturismo camp, but more in a "it's not for me, but I can see why people love it" kind of way. I've only played a bit of the new Forza, but I must say it plays fantastically, even though it's not my kind of thing, I can see they've done a lot to make it more accessible for those not obsessed with camber, suspension and torque.

I take it the ones deleting the post are bottom of the food chain moderators who can't actually report these problems higher up so instead nag the users for spamming there pretty forum with posts about the same valid complaint. Shame that doesn't help the users at all.

Have to say that it all got very boring and very old very very quickly with this version of Forza. Not nearly enough new content, track racing is pretty dull as it stands anyway - all the fun I've had with this has been in the vinyl editor if I'm brutally honest.

Still, at least there's Split Second to look forward to early next year.

A little addition to this:

Turn 10 are indeed reading the boards, as several that were moaning about the game have since been deleted. Bad, bad Turn 10!
