Obama is Worried About Robots
You and me both, Mr President
Considering I’ve just treated myself to the Battlestar Galactica boxset, I had to smile when I heard this: at a high school demonstration of a student-built robot, US President Barack Obama confessed to harbouring some worries about a potential robot takeover.
The Cougar Cannon robot, built by pupils from Oakton high school in Washington DC, is designed to gather up and hurl moon rocks and was on display at an event held to highlight several US government technology and science initiatives.
After seeing the cannon, President Obama told reporters: “As president, I believe that robotics can inspire young people to pursue science and engineering. And I also want to keep an eye on those robots in case they try anything.”
However, we believe that there is no substance behind rumours that a certain Sarah Connor is being lined up as the White House’s cybernetics defence advisor.
