Satio Withdrawn from Sale

Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U have stopped selling Sony Ericsson’s flagship Satio handset after a number of phones were returned by irate customers.

The Satio was launched earlier this year, with much fanfare from Sony Ericsson. However, what appears to be a software glitch means that large numbers of buyers have experienced problems with their handsets.

In an article in the Times newspaper, Sony Ericsson manager Richard Dorman said he expected the problem to be resolved by Christmas. However, the lack of sales in the interim period will be a huge blow to the company which was counting on the Satio to revive its flagging finances.

There are also fears that the bad publicity generated by the Satio may have an adverse effect on sales of the upcoming Android X10.

In a statement, Sony Ericsson said that finding a solution to the software problem was a matter of “utmost priority”.
