Prince of Persia Back Next Year

Tie-in with Jake Gyllenhaal flick

Surprise, surprise, Ubisoft has announced a new Prince of Persia game is in the works to coincide with the release of next year’s feature film.

The multiformat title is subtitled The Forgotten Sands, and sees the franchise return to the Sands of Time storyline. Apparently, it’s aimed at attracting both “core and casual” gamers.

An Ubisoft statement reads: “Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will feature many of the fan-favourite elements from the original series as well as new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince Of Persia brand.”

And CEO Yves Guillemot added: “The goal is to reach both audiences, the core and casual gamers. It will be a game that will have lots of combat, with the possibility for gamers that are not as good – a level for beginners. In that sense we are trying to cover both groups.”

Good luck to ‘em. If ever a franchise needed a proper re-reboot, it’s this one.
