New HTC Handsets Spotted
A host of future handsets
Mobile phone manufacturer HTC has launched itself into the smartphone fray in recent years with the enthusiastic adoption of Google’s Android network.
High-end handset the HTC Hero has been massively popular since its release earlier this year, and an impressive array of mid-range smartphones such as the Magic and the Tattoo have helped to secure HTC’s place as one of the top phone producers.
Engadget has revealed that after a bit of digging around inside HTC’s Sense ROM and the underlying Android 2.1, a host of future handsets have been found. While the find amounts to little more than a list of names for the new phones, it’s good to know that there’s lots more in store from HTC; we’ve been consistently impressed by the company’s offerings so far.
Here’s the list of future handsets as first publicised by Engadget:
Bahamas, Bravo, DesireC, Dragon, Dream, Espresso, Halo, HeroCT, HeroC, Hero, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, PassionC, Passion, Sapphire and Supersonic.
This is sparse information to go on, but it does look as though we should expect a few new versions of the popular Hero.
All of this leads to the question; if you were tasked with naming the next high profile smartphone, what would you call it? Tougher than it sounds.
Update: Ally has done some additional snoopifying and has unearthed this link which claims to show images of some of these new handsets along with their intended release dates.
