Grown Up Gaming Chairs for Big Kids
Three new LumiSource designs have us tempted
A certain lucky member of our team was given a shiny new gaming chair by Santa this Christmas. He’s so convinced that these are the way forward that I’ve been on a mission to find one for myself, and three new designs from LumiSource have me sorely tempted.
The latest additions to the LumiSource range of BoomChairs came to our attention for the first time at CES, with a decidedly grown up feel and stylish designs destined to appeal the the more mature gamer.
The Sky Lounger
This chair is made with the adult gamer in mind with chrome rails to raise it off the ground and an “extra large seating area” for the more generously blessed of posterior. Designed with both games and films in mind, this chair features two, two-way speakers and a powerful four inch subwoofer. The adjustable volume and bass controls on the handheld remote allow you to customise the experience.
Size: 35″L x 26.5″W x 40″H
This one looks more like a common or garden office chair, and is aimed squarely at PC gamers. The Admiral has an adjustable headrest for maximum comfort as you hunch feverishly over the keyboard, listen to music or watch films. This chair also features two two-way speakers aimed at the user along with adjustable volume, base, headrest, tilt and tension.
Size: 27″L x 32″W x 46″H
The Stealth BoomChair
comfortable position. It can also be powered using eight D cell batteries.Product Size: 28″L x 28″W x 41″H
These chairs are due out at some stage in 2010, but as yet there are no exact dates or prices to relate. The rest of the LumiSource range is sub £120.

The PC chair could be the exact thing I’m looking for. Being disabled, I can’t sit at a PC for more than an hour without feeling really sick (due to pain).
Never managed yet to find a suitably comfortable, and useful PC chair, but this could be it, if not the closest I’ve encountered.
Big thank you for bringing this to my attention.
