No Wi-Fi for Chinese iPhones
The phone will only run on cellular networks
Colorado-based stock research firm Wedge Partners claims to have seen Apple’s application to the Chinese government to license the iPhone in that country. However, the application does not include Wi-Fi connectivity, and the Chinese Government has been adamant that the phone will run only on cellular networks.
Industry insiders speculate that there are already over 1 million iPhones already in use in China, although its sale there is illegal. Apple has previously stated that it wants to have a presence in the Chinese market by April 2010.
