The UK top 20

The half term holidays are upon us, and it’s plain that every harassed parent in the country is trying desperately to distract the fruit of their loins with Wii games.

Every title for Nintendo’s motion control console has risen at least one place this week, with Just Dance coming out top overall in the all formats chart (up from fifth last week).  Mario Kart Wii, for example, has squeaked back into the top ten, and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, which had sunk out of the top 20 altogether, is back at number 18.

Despite this, the more in-depth games are still selling well.  Just Cause 2 was last week’s number one and has only fallen one place this week, marginally ahead of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.  God of War II, on the other hand has gone from first to 14th in just three weeks.

No new releases made it into the top 20. When fighting game Blazblue: Calamity Trigger was released in Japan it appeared in the country’s top ten, but it has failed to make an impression over here, charting outside the top 40.
