Resident Evil’s Wesker Is Dead
Perhaps our favourite game villain of all is gone
Possibly our favourite video game villain of all time, Resident Evil’s Albert Wesker, had his chips officially cashed in last week.
At the San Diego Comic-Con, producer Masachika Kawata was asked whether Wesker’s death at the climax of RE5 meant that he would not be returning for the upcoming sixth game in the series.
Kawata replied: “Even if you want Albert Wesker to come back there is no chance of that happening.”
While we’re deeply saddened by Capcom’s decision to kill off their most memorable bad guy this side of M. Bison, we somehow doubt that we’ve seen the last of the trenchcoat-and-shades-wearing, Magnum-wielding megalomaniac Wesker.
With 16 spin-off games so far, and more on their way, the RE franchise is constantly mining its history for new angles. Wesker is such a popular character that it seems all-but inevitable that he’ll turn up in the future, possibly as soon as upcoming Wii exclusive The Darkside Chronicles.
In the meantime, check out Kiba1303’s fine tribute to the man over on Youtube. Just don’t Google ‘Wesker cosplay”, as we can’t be held responsible for the results.

Noooo, RE6 won’t be the same without Wesker….Chhrisss!
