King of Fighters XII Release Date Announced

A new release date for The King of Fighters XII has been announced by Ignition Entertainment and SNK Playmore.

KOF XII, announced the release to coincide with their 15th anniversary following a successful outing at this year’s E3 show.

The game received a number of awards and nominations including the prestigious IGN editors award of Best of E3 2009 – Best Fighting Game on PlayStation 3.

The forthcoming edition KOF XII due for release in the UK and Europe on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on 25th September 2009 will serve up 22 characters with their unique moves, styles and classic gameplay.

The game will be presented in 2D production with all-new high-resolution fighters animating across a completely hand-drawn background.

Old fan favourites such as Terry Bogard, Robert Garcia, Ash Crimson, Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami mark their return, along with two new additions called Elisabeth and the strangely monikered; Mature.

Online gaming is available on both platforms so fighting rivals around the world is a nice feature but enhanced by the addition of voice chat and online rankings.

Peter Rollinson, Product Manager, Ignition Entertainment said: “KOF XII has improved over its predecessors in many ways, offering a fresh yet familiar experience to all fighting fans”.

A spokesman for IGN said: “KOF XII is entirely hand-drawn and it looks fantastic. The gameplay is equally enticing, as it represents a slick update of the classic King of Fighters combat.”
