Ass Creed Pre-orders Insane

Especially on PS3 - are 360 owners defecting?

Ubisoft’s pre-order figures for Assassin’s Creed II are up 80 per cent from the original title, leading the developer to announce it expects the sequel to sell around 15-25 per cent more than the first game in the series.

Interestingly, a report from analyst OTX notes that many people who are pre-ordering the game for the PS3 own the original on Xbox. Apparently, 15 per cent of gamers who plan to buy ACII on the PS3 have an Xbox copy of the original, compared with only seven percent of those who bought the first game on PS3 planning to get the sequel on the 360.

OTX expects this state of affairs to be echoed with Modern Warfare 2 and other multiformat games, leading to the speculation that 360 owners are ‘defecting’ to Sony’s console.

Spurious? Confusing? You tell us. In the meantime, why not watch the first part of the live action series Assassin’s Creed: Lineage over on YouTube. It’s really rather good.

Having seen both versions running, I can honestly say that Ubisoft seem to have FINALLY listened to their critics, and have sorted out the godawful V-Synch problems that plagued the first one. PS3 version’s a lot crisper (no AA) but the levels of detail on the characters seems to be just that little bit tastier in the PS3 version over the 360 versh.

Still going for the 360 version though

Plus with sales getting better for the PS3. And it being a more lager % of profit for the companies. They had to get PS3 knowledge. And will need to do so even more so this coming year. Its just good to see that we have a real deal 2 system thing going and not a monopoly anymore.
