Xbox Live Update is Now, Um, Live

Xbox 360 owners who missed out on the recent update preview can now finally experience Microsoft’s update package for themselves.

The update adds Facebook, Twitter, and Last.Fm functionality to the 360’s dashboard, as well as the new Zune streaming video channel. Apart from Zune, all need to be downloaded before you can use them.

We ran a preview of the services a few weeks back, but what do you think of the updates? Will you use them much? Is Microsoft taking Live in an exciting new direction? Or would you prefer they stuck to the games? Let us know in the comments section.

Someone on my twitter feed has the preview, all I saw was every acheivement/game played being auto tweeted. It’s not something I want to read, or want to publish. I’ll be interested in checking out the zune player though.

Well, at least this one seems to work.

Not like that Sky abortion that went live (or didn’t) a few weeks ago. I wonder if Sky ran it through the same servers as they use for their lousy internet? If they, it was never going to work, whatever.

Facebook seems an interesting application to link to XBL. But Twitter – yuck! From experience – with organisations and businesses excepted – it’s a load of people who do nothing remotely interesting talking about it as much as possible. Avoid!

That’s kind of cool looking. I wonder how well it works.

umm the newest update crashed my xbox and I can no longer connect to XBL. I’m level 60 in MW2 and this is really frustrating. This happens to me every time they install a stupid update
